Biograd na Moru is a seaport city located in northern Dalmatia. It is situated about 28 km south from Zadar, which is the main area or city of the region.
The city is significant to the history of Croatia because it was a former capital of medieval Kingdom of Croatia. It is spread on peninsula surrounded by two bays Soline on the south, Bošana on the north and overlooking island of Pašman.
Its name literally means “the white town on the sea” and it was first mentioned in the 10th century as a town Croats founded.

Croatian summer wind “maestral” is a thermic wind caused by difference in temperature it is getting stronger as the sun rises and vice versa, so most of the time you have calm night (if not forecasted otherwise) .
Sudden summer storm “NEVERA” often will not be forecasted, but it can be predicted if you observe the horizon. Thunders forming a “front” and coming from W/NW/N with sudden sea level rise (tide) are almost certain sign of Nevera. It can pick up to 70kts winds (W/NW/N) although it doesn't last more than one hour it can cause serious damage to your yacht and put your life in danger!
This region is most interesting for sailors because of its indented coast and a lot of neighboring islands that can quickly become a shelter for yachts or catamarans in case of bad weather.
The characteristic Mediterranean climate with rainy winters and dry and hot summers make it desirable location for sailing summer holidays. The common periods for sailing are from April to October, however peak season is July and August when you can expect most crowd. Other months like June and September are excellent regarding the weather since it is not to hot to spend time out side and the sea temperature is still good for a nice swim.

What you should be taking care of , is following weather forecast so you do not get caught in Neverin, which is a sudden and strong storm, that appears 3-4 times a month. It usually lasts only half an hour but it can cause problems if you are not somewhere safe with your boat and crew.
